A young jeweler, named John, with big dreams met a jewelry design graduate, named Jenny, with a sparkle in her eyes and a wonderful smile. Her beauty, her designs and her personality entranced him.
He'd become a Jeweler to use his sense of fashion and love of design to make women feel valued, important and beautiful.
.... Now he had a partner who could help him make that dream a reality.

In 1989, John and Jenny opened a tiny storefront in Lorton and started learning how to run a jewelry store while providing the same incredible jewelry repair, appraisals and custom jewelry designs to that they were providing to many of the Northern Virginia's high end retail stores.

Word spread. As Jewelry By Design grew John and Jenny made sure that every employee had the same value of making women feel beautiful as they did.

Their commitment to excellence and utilizing the latest technology soon qualified them to join the small percentage of jewelry stores who are certified American Gem Society (AGS) members.

Each new employee still undergoes extra training to improve their professional skills and almost all of them are AGS Certified Sales Associates.

In 1997 Jewelry By Design opened a second location in Smoketown Plaza and then moved both stores into Jewelry By Design's current location on Prince William Parkway in 1998. Pretty soon, the Prince William Parkway store expanded, not once, but twice to become the place to go for Hearts on Fire diamonds. In 2007 they expanded again, doubling the size of the store, our children's play room, adding more space for jewelry and a custom-made chandelier to celebrate not only the beauty of women, but the beauty of all creation. With their latest expansion, they've added a Pandora “Shop in Shop”, a treasure room full of estate jewelry and more room for their 3 AGS certified gemologists to craft beautiful expressions of your style.

Jewelry By Design is very involved in the community. They've hosted diamond digs, lost weight together with you, given children the chance to buy Mother's Day diamonds and donated money to breast cancer research and fed the homeless in Woodbridge.

Through 26 years of marriage, 20 years growing a jewelry store and many adventures, John and Jenny Caro have kept the sparkle in their eyes for each other. They still love seeing the excitement in each customer's eyes when they feel valued, important and beautiful. Come in for a visit. Let them help you find the unique celebration of your one-of-a-kind beauty.
